MUMBAI: Pune based contestant Jasraj Joshi has been crowned as the winner of the 17th season of the popular singing reality show SaReGaMaPa 2012.

The 29 year old defeated Ludhiana based Shenaz Akhtar, Jaipur's Mohammad Aman, and Mumbai’s Vishwajeet Borwankar to win the title, a one-year contract with the channel Zee TV and a bike. Akhtar was crowned the runner-up, while Borwankar was voted third by the audience and Aman finished fourth.

A singer by profession, Joshi bagged the title after nine years of struggle. He managed to create a solid fan base for his ability to melodiously blend western and classical and folk tunes. He was also a favourite of the judges Shankar Mahadevan, Rahul Ram and Sajid-Wajid Ali.

The grand finale witnessed a performance by Punjabi rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh singing a medley of his hit tracks including Angrezi beat, High heels, Brown rang and Lonely. Anchor and singer Javed Ali too performed a medley of patriotic songs on the occasion.
