Gerd Brantenberg (Gerd Mjøen Brantenberg) est née le 27 octobre 1941 à Oslo est une autrice, enseignante et écrivaine féministe norvégienne. Elle a grandi à Fredrikstad.
Gerd Brantenberg a étudiée l’anglais, l’histoire et la sociologie à Londres, Édimbourg et Oslo.
Elle a travaillé de 1972 à 1983 à la Maison des femmes à Oslo. Elle a été membre du conseil d’administration de la première association norvégienne pour les personnes homosexuelles de 1948, précurseur de l’Association nationale norvégienne pour la libération des lesbiennes et des homosexuels. Elle a créé des refuges pour femmes et a travaillé à Lesbisk bevegelse (mouvement lesbien) à Oslo et à Copenhague. En 1978, elle a fondé un Forum littéraire des femmes dans le but d’encourager les femmes à écrire et publier.
