Who Was Jerome Brudos?
Troubled from an early age, Jerome Brudos abducted and beat a woman at age 17. After high school, he married and settled in the area of Salem, Oregon. His crimes escalated and he eventually murdered four women, keeping grisly trophies from his victims and dressing in their clothing. Brudos, known as the "The Lust Killer" was apprehended in 1969 and died in prison in 2006.
Early Life
Jerome Henry Brudos was born on January 31, 1939, in South Dakota. Known as the Lust Killer, Jerome Brudos murdered several women in the Salem, Oregon area in the late 1960s. His family moved around a few times while he was growing up, spending time in Oregon, California, and South Dakota. The youngest of two boys, Brudos had a strained relationship with his overbearing mother.
Brudos discovered a pair of high-heeled shoes in a junkyard when he was five years old, marking the beginning of his fascination with women’s footwear. When his mother found him wearing the shoes, she took them away and destroyed them. His fetish for women’s shoes continued to grow, and he later stole women’s underwear from neighboring homes. • Jerry Tyson aka The Triple Killer, or "3XK", is a serial killer with a signature of strangling three blonde women in a week before going into hiding for a month and killing again. When identified in Season Three, he was formidable adversary of Richard Castle, Kate Beckett, and the NYPD as a whole all the way to his downfall in Season Seven. What is known is that with his father having abandoned him and died later as well, Jerry was raised under the care of his father's girlfriend, Gretchen Cutler. She claimed Jerry was a "hellion" despite her attempts to provide a loving home, and ultimately relinquished him to the system at the age of nine. Bitter at being sent into uncaring foster care, Jerry ended up becoming a serial killer by killing women who look like his biological mother and especially Gretchen as a way of 'getting back at her'. Despite this, however, Jerry still loves his mother (or mother-figure) and, as an homage to her, leaves his victims looking peaceful.
