Nancy Julia Chodorow (born January 20, [2]) is an American sociologist and professor.[3] She began teaching at Wellesley College in , then moved to the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she taught from until [4] She was a Sociology and Clinical Psychology professor at the University of California, Berkeley until [5][6] Subsequently, she taught psychiatry at Harvard Medical School/Cambridge Health Alliance.
Chodorow has authored multiple works on contemporary feminist thought,[7] including The Reproduction of Mothering: Psychoanalysis and the Sociology of Gender ();[5][8][9]Feminism and Psychoanalytic Theory (); Femininities, Masculinities, Sexualities: Freud and Beyond (); and The Power of Feelings: Personal Meaning in Psychoanalysis, Gender, and Culture ().
