Later moved to Huntington Beach, California during his high school years. At first and before Avenged Sevenfold, his first band was a crust punk band called Society Down. After Society Down, he formed a punk band called MPA, which stands for Mad Porno Action, and then he formed Avenged Sevenfold with M. Shadows and The Rev.
Zacky came up with his stage name "Zacky Vengeance" because he wanted to get back at all the people from his youth who doubted his potential.
Vengeance was also responsible for the creation of the initialism "A7X", and Jonathan Seward's stage name "Johnny Christ" saying it suited him.

In high school he studied in college Zacky Huntington Beach High School . Zacky made his own stage name ” Zacky Vengeance ” because he wanted revenge on all the people who doubted his success and not supported . He also created the stage name ” Johnny Christ ” because he thought it was ideal for him . In the A7X All Excess DVD , he recalls that before Avenged Sevenfold , he was in a punk band called MPA * , which stands for Mad Porno Action . He explains that there have been successful . He and M. Shadows ( who at the time was the singer of a band called Successful Failure ) formed Avenged Sevenfold . He taught himself to play guitar when he was thirteen. Zacky was also responsible for the creation of the acronym ” A7X ” which means : A = Avenged Avenged = / 7 = Seven Seven = / = X = Fold Times .
